Red Bud Industries recently installed a new SCS Sheet Cleaning Line at Central Steel & Wire Company’s Central Coil Processing plant in Portage, Indiana. It’s the fourth SCS Sheet Line in the United States. The new system is designed to process sheets up to 72" (1,829 mm) wide and .500" (12.7 mm) thick.

A SCS Cleaning System takes hot rolled black material and gives it a clean, highly paintable rust resistant smooth surface without the use of oils. The heart of this patented process is a

controlled “brushing away” of all surface scale except for a micro thin layer. SCS Cleaning Systems are available in both sheet or coil cleaning configurations.

Central Steel & Wire Company is a ferrous and nonferrous metal distribution service center founded in 1909 with plants in Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and Greensboro, along with their coil processing plant in Portage.
