| RED BUD INDUSTRIES INSTALLS MULTI-CUT BLANKING LINE
AND HIGH SPEED SLITTING LINE AT HIGH STEEL SERVICE

High Steel Service Center Inc., a steel service center located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has installed a High Speed Multi-Cut Blanking Line and a High Speed Slitting Line from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, Illinois. High Steel was continually seeing the close tolerance blank market expanding in their area but was not equipped for high volume production in this competitive market. They also wanted to strengthen their existing Slitter market. To make a major impact in both these areas required a major building expansion and the installation of a High Speed Multi-Cut Blanking Line and a state-of-the-art Slitter.
The Slitting Line features Red Bud’s exclusive “Camber Trac” System that automatically prevents camber from being introduced during the slitting process. The “Camber Trac” System monitors the position of the strip just prior to its entering the Slitter. In addition to traversing the Uncoiler, the entire Slitting Head moves relative to the strip. As a result, there is no Slitter induced camber in the slit product.
A uniquely designed Thread System fully

supports the strips as they are thread from the Slitting Head to the Tensioning System. In addition, the system automatically positions the strips into the nip point of the Roller Tensioner. Additionally, the thread rolls can be used as a double looper. This allows the Slitting Line to be used as a double loop system when processing light gage material, significantly reducing pit depth.
The Multi-Cut Blanking Line features Red Bud’s High Speed Dual Action Servo Controlled Grip Feed System. This system is capable of consistently producing parts with length tolerances of ±.005" (.127 mm) and production speeds reaching 400 FPM (122 MPM). Red Bud’s patented CNC Programmable Slitter with expandable arbors and a Digital Positioning System is also incorporated into this line. The line’s PLC is used to automatically locate each of the Slitter knives. Once positioned, the arbors are expanded, locking the knives in position. Typical Slitter set up takes about 2 minutes per knife. This unique Slitter allows the line to run multiple back to back multi-blanking jobs without the need for multiple Slitter Heads |

or additional set up personnel.
 The 60" (1,524 mm) wide, .250" (6.35 mm) Slitting Line consists of a 60,000 lb (27,216 kg) Reel/Coil Stage and Load System, Peeler Breaker, Crop Shear, 9" (228.6 mm) diameter Packed Arbor Slitter, Programmable Expandable Arbor Slitter, quick dump Scrap Winders, combination Drag Pad/Roller Tensioner, Exit Crop Shear, and a 60,000 lb Recoiler with traversing Coil Lift and Turnstile.
 The 72" (1,828 mm) wide, 10 gage Multi-Cut Blanking Line consists of a 50,000 lb (22,680kg) Reel/Coil Stage & Load System, Peeler Breaker, Crop Shear, Bradbury Roller Leveler, Pop-Up Flatness Table, Motorized Grip Feed, CNC Programmable Slitter, Single Point Adjustable Shear, a combination Drop/Air Flotation Stacker with rejection capabilities, and Powered Discharge Conveyors with a Slit Stack Separator.
