Red Bud Industries installed a 5/16" (8 mm) High Speed Looping Type Cut-To-Length Line with Heavy Gage Grip Feed System and Variable Rake Shear at Quality Metals in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The new line features Red Bud's Heavy Gage Servo Hydraulic Grip Feed System, which allows material up to 5/16" (8 mm) thick to run in a deep loop at high speeds without slippage. According to Dean Linders, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Red Bud Industries, “Large, specially designed grippers allow critical surface material as light as 28 gage (.381 mm) to be processed 'mark free'. The Feed's unique alignment system and auto camber control ensures the consistent production of very accurate, square parts throughout the entire

gage range regardless of speed. The Grip Feed has the unique capability of 'steering' the material when camber is present in the strip by automatically feeding slightly more or less material with one gripper relative to the other. The result is better material tracking and improved part tolerances.”

Also featured in the line is Red Bud's Variable Rake Shear. This unique Shear reduces stress to the material by automatically adjusting the blade to material thickness, which ensures an optimum cut. In addition the blade gap can be quickly adjusted in as little as 15 seconds by utilizing a single point adjust system. To further improve squareness tolerances, the Shear angle can be easily adjusted to compensate for a part that is out of square.
